Our chapter strongly believes in the importance of greek life participation. Although our main goal is to build ourselves as a chapter, we help to do this through attending and supporting other fraternities and sororities philanthropic events. A “philanthropy” is an event organized by chapter houses on campus where the money raised goes toward supporting their chapters “cause.” Each fraternity and sorority typically have one event a year and an organization that they raise money for. Some examples of these organizations include Make-A-Wish Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the philanthropies range from sporting competitions to entertainment events. All women in our chapter are required to attend two philanthropic events each term. This year, Delta Gamma has participated in all sorority and fraternity philanthropies. Delta Gamma prides itself in winning Sigma Chi’s Philanthropy “Derby Days” five years in a row, helping to raise over $60,000 this year to grant local wishes on behalf of Make-A-Wish Foundation. We continue to participate in philanthropies as a way to bond with other chapters, bond with our sisters, but most importantly, to raise money for amazing causes!
