Chapter History
100+ years on the University of Oregon campus!
The University of Oregon was established as a university on October 12, 1872.
In 1908, a group of women students organized as the XYZ Club, which they renamed to Lambda Rho in 1909. These Lambda Rho girls bought a house in April 1909 for $100 a month, which up until 1921 had the special distinction of being the only women’s house on campus with two indoor bathrooms.
In 1910, the Lambda Rho president began the process of affiliation with Delta Gamma. On October 17, 1913, after a favorable report at the June convention, the Alpha Delta chapter of Delta Gamma was installed with 27 founding members. DG became the 7th sorority on the UO campus. DG was the largest sorority on campus in 1917 with 35 members.
Alpha Delta members have continuoulsy served the campus and the community since its founding over 100 years ago.
